If you don’t want WordPress to get updated on its own, you can disable the automatic updates using one line of code.
But before you do it, you should know that disabling automatic updates in WordPress is a huge security risk. It will put your website at risk of getting hacked.
You can disable automatic updates by placing this line of code in your wp-config.php:
define( 'WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE', FALSE );
The above code will disable all automatic CORE updates in WordPress.
You might already have this constant defined in your config file. So, before you add the above line of code, be sure to look for that line of code. If it already exists, change the value to false.
If you want to disable automatic updates for individual themes and plugins, you will have to do it from the Plugins section in the WordPress dashboard.
If you want to enable automatic core updates again, use this line of code in wp-config.php:
define( 'WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE', TRUE );
